Day 13

We went to the Mississippi today! Dennis' family owns a cabin in the North East of Iowa, so that is where we went today. They have their own boat too, so after we made the boat ready to go, we went for a ride on the river! The weather and the environment were really nice, so it was amazing! We even did some fishing, but we did not catch any fish, unfortunately. After the boat ride, they showed us the town Waukon, where Dennis grew up. We went to visit some of his family members, which was nice. One of his family members owns a farm, so when we were there, we got a little 'tour' at the farm. And we could feed a little cow who was only 3 weeks old! After all the visits in Waukon, we drove back to Cedar Rapids. On our way home, we bought some ice cream at a small stand next to the road. When we got out of the car to buy the ice cream, we had a good view of the surroundings. And the rural areas of America are really similar to how they look in the movies! When we looked around, all we could see were corn fields, some farms far away and a big water tower with the name of the town.
When we were home again, Becky and Dennis ordered pizza. They knew we had never had taco pizza before, so that is what they ordered. It tasted so good! After dinner, Iris and I started packing our suitcases, because we are leaving Iowa tomorrow in the afternoon... When we finished packing our suitcases, we played some cards with Becky and Dennis. We taught them another card game we play at home sometimes, which was fun! Today was a lovely day!
